Update: Apple’s Perception Hurdle
And therein lies the perception hurdle that Apple faces: the fact that most of the improvements in the iPhone 5S are under the hood rather than clearly visible (and often “novelty”) changes, most notably the 64-bit A7 processor, which benchmarks beautifully:

The iPhone 4S was the best smartphone I had ever owned. However, it was starting to show its age. iOS 7 ran somewhat okay on it. There were noticeable delays when transitioning between apps. Basically, it felt like your were running on the minimum requirements for the OS. Much like running “Diablo” on a 486 back in the day; it could be done, but to really enjoy the experience, you needed to upgrade to a Pentium. The iPhone 5s is incredibly fast by comparison and worth the upgrade.
