Here’s an accordion number to promote Tential Tuesday, the data/development pro gathering run by my friends at Tential’s Tampa office. I played it last Saturday at BarCamp Tampa Bay 2019 to promote tonight’s Tential Tuesday event:
Whether you set up and operate data processing systems or write programs that use them, modern databases like Microsoft’s SQL Server have facilities to work with Machine Learning constructs. In this session, Buck Woody – a Data Scientist from Microsoft Engineering – will explain Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning, all with examples from the SQL Server Platform. You’ll see practical examples of ML, AI and DL, right within the SQL Server platform, and get resources to learn more and try out the examples on your own.
If you’re a techie in the Tampa Bay area, Tential Tuesdays are important. They’re one of the up-and-coming local networking events, and they’re organized by the hardest-working tech staffing company in the Bay. They’ve been making their presence known at events of all sizes, from five people to five hundred, and they’ve been connecting people to opportunities like no one else in the area. They’re my go-to people, and if you’re a techie in Tampa Bay, they should be yours too.
What does Tampa Bay do after a big tech event like BarCamp Tampa Bay, where the Sun Coast’s brightest lights got together to share their knowledge and get together?
We get back to the business of being the best small tech market in North America (according to the commercial real estate firm CBRE, who are in the business of knowing these things). After a day’s work of developing software, hardware, tech services, space tech and more, we get together to share our knowledge, work on passion projects, build things, or hang out over a meal and some drinks. We do the things that a great community does, and those things are listed here on Global Nerdy every week.

This week’s big event: BarCamp Tampa Bay 2019!
A BarCamp is an “unconference”: a conference in which the normal rules are turned upside-down. Typical conferences have their agendas set in advance by the conference organizers. In a BarCamp, the agenda is set by all the attendees at the start of the event, when people who want to start a discussion or share an idea claim a time slot of the day’s schedule grid. Some sessions are presentations, while others are less like lectures and more like open discussions.
BarCamp Tampa Bay is one of the best indicators of the strength of Tampa Bay’s tech community and one of the best opportunities for you to take part in that community! New Meetup groups
A couple of new techie- and nerd-related meetup groups were announced this week:
Tampa HashiCorp User Group: “This group is a place to meet other developers and ops engineers using HashiCorp tools! HashiCorp enables orgs to provision, secure, and run any infrastructure for any application. DevOps engineers use the HashiCorp product suite of Vagrant, Packer, Terraform, Vault, Nomad, and Consul on a daily basis. We want to get these people together to share experiences.”
BarCamp Tampa Bay 2019: Tampa Bay’s biggest unconference! Imagine a conference where there are no scheduled talks until the day it happens, and those talks are scheduled and given by the attendees. There are no spectators — we’re all participants! That’s BarCamp in a nutshell. BarCamp happens on Saturday, October 5th at Keiser University Tampa.
Tampa Community Connect:You may know Tampa’s annual community tech conference by its old name, Tampa Code Camp, but like the initials, it’s the event you know and love! Come to this all-day event and sharpen your hard and soft techie skills. Tampa Community Connect happens on Saturday, October 26th at Keiser University Tampa.
